Description
This old chicken house brought back memories of helping my grandmother feed her chickens when I was just a toddler. Her chicken house, as she called it, was not a safe place for unattended children. The dangers were many. There was the possibility of snakes, mice, bugs or a nesting hen who would attack if disturbed. She needed not to worry. When the old creaky door was unlatched and opened it revealed a dark, musty place with shelves containing straw and roosting boards. The chickens entered and exited via a drop down door that had strips nailed to it making a ladder for them when going up or down. I was always happy when we made it back to Grandma's kitchen where she proudly displayed the gathered eggs.
