Trail of Tears Mantle Rock Entrance metal print by Lena Wilhite. Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. Artist's Description
One can hike a portion of the Trail of Tears at The Nature Conservancy's Mantle Rock Preserve in Livingston County, Kentucky. Thousands of Cherokee camped for weeks here as they waited for ice conditions in the Ohio River to allow a safe crossing. The entrance to the hiking trail is located in Joy, Kentucky. I attempted to capture the natural beauty of this incredible preserve, but the photographs only tell part of my experience. My heart ached and I, too, shed tears for those who suffered here. I will never forget my experience in this sacred place.
