With camera slung casually over my shoulder on my early morning walk through a grassy field headed toward a favorite bird watching spot, I startled this cardinal almost as much as he startled me! He jumped to a safe place and I jumped into action, barely snapping the shutter before he flew away. The sparkling dew on the grass was an added bonus for this lucky capture.
